Washington State has had a little snow lately. Seattle folks have been spared, but we decided to go and find some anyway.
Snow's not so bad when you can choose whether or not you want to look at it or drive in it. The trees looked lovely today.
The gray skies provided a dramatic contrast to the pure white snow. In this field, several horses were having a fine old time!
And oh the eagles! Bald Eagles were everywhere today - sitting in bunches in the trees...
taking careful note of everything that was going on around them, and ready to fly at the drop of a glove.
Indeed, some trees were laden with six, ten, a dozen or more of these gorgeous and majestic birds.
Across the banks of the Skagit River, adult and immature eagles were checking out the supply of salmon available for their dinner.
A couple of juveniles thought it was worth fighting over.
Here, an eagle swoops lazily overhead, waiting for us to leave before he settles down again.
And once in a while, one sits quietly and poses nicely :D It was a very fine day indeed, and we figure we saw more than 200 Bald Eagles.
