January 10, 2011
What a surprise when I opened the blinds in the living room this morning! I'd checked for snow when Tim got up at 5 a.m. and there was none to be seen. This arrived sometime between 8 and 8:45, and as I type, it has melted. It was pretty while it lasted.

I decided to go for a walk with the camera.

Here I am at the Zoo.

I headed towards the Northern Trail on the advice of a Zoo employee.

Oh boy! The wolves were loving it.

I'm thinking this is one of the new wolves. He was very friendly.

A small Wallaroo seemed very puzzled by the cold white stuff.

The Emu moved verrrrry quickly across the snowy parts.

One of the tigers studied it intensely.

Mr Scaredy-cat stayed at the highest point in his shelter. He would not move for anything.

The Patas monkeys looked a bit fed up and disappointed.
Mouse over the picture to see their faces up close.

A giraffe looked longingly at the white Savannah.
They're kept inside when it's snowy or icy because of 'Fear Of Falling and breaking legs'.

A Grant's Gazelle looks extremely unimpressed.

The Zebra, however, kinda likes it. 'I feel right at home in this.'.

And for the Jaguar, it's business as usual.

I must say I was very surprised which animals did not make an appearance while I was there - the Snow Leopards. Go figure.
