Sunday January 18th
The sky was blue and the sun shone brilliantly. I got an email from a friend up North, saying the routes to the eagles were clear, so we didn't need much prodding to hit the road.

Although we saw 4 eagles on the way there, the feathered friends were conspicuously absent from our usual 'good places'. It may have been the time of day, or perhaps the crazy December Storm of the Century plus Killer Floods of January had given them the urge to move on earlier than usual.

How great it was to see the mountains once again.

Groups of swans took advantage of the flooded fields.

Here we are at our favorite spot on the Nooksack River.
Sadly there is not an eagle in sight.

I watched a Gull catching fish for a while.

Looking for a lunch spot on Truck Road, near the river, we spotted this magnificent fellow.
'Eagles come in all shapes and sizes, but you will recognize them chiefly by their attitudes.'

And a raggedy-looking specimen perched over the river at Mosquito Lake Road.

Although we'd hoped to see more than a total of nine eagles, it was glorious to be on a road trip once again, especially on such a lovely day.
