Trying to beat today's deluge of rain, I made a quick stop at
the Zoo today before I began my errands. I intended to take
a picture of the Zoo's tributes to the Seattle Seahawks who
play in the Super Bowl this weekend. I'd read that the staff
had made a large banner for the 12th Man in the north meadow.
Turned out that they'd painted a big number 12 on the grass
which was great, but you'd have to be up in a plane to get the
effect.
I'd also
read that the elephants were busy painting pictures in Seahawk
colors, to be auctioned on eBay as a fundraiser. [link]
Sadly, not a picture was in sight, and certainly no Van Gogh
wannabe pachyderms were waving their paintbrushes around in
their trunks. They were all asleep in the barn.
One sad bit of news, to me at least, was that the "baby"
tigers will soon be moving on to another Zoo. I will miss them
terribly, but the guide told me that the handlers were hoping
to breed the mother once again, so with any luck I can look
forward to more cubs.
A
few animals showed their faces on this damp, cold, nasty day.
