My run of luck with Ivar's continued as we received a note from Ivar's at Mukilteo Landing last week. "Now, after 450 days of construction, we're nearly ready to throw open the front doors to a new era! " it said, and as one of the Missing Carp Diary winners, I was invited to bring a friend to a pre-opening celebration, on the house. So off we went, driving 25 or so miles north of Seattle .
The first thing I did when we arrived was to give the Carp a big hug. I'm not so sure he liked it, judging from the look on his face. :D

The Carp was much bigger than I'd pictured.
I was happy to see there were lots of large windows. The view is really pretty at any time of day, and sometimes harbor seals can be seen. Not tonight though.
A large fireplace was a pleasant addition to the room.

The dining room formerly had been rather a maze of areas, lots of little corners and cul-de-sacs, but now it's much more open and airy, with a very spacious feel to it.
Sadly I did not remember that I was going to take pictures of the food until we had just about finished the appetizer. We shared a plate of smoked salmon on skewers, accompanied by a yummy chutney and deep fried corn bread.

Here is the last mouthful. It looked a lot nicer before we dove into it. :)
Our server, Janet brings the salads - Caesar for Tim and house for me.

If you notice some odd spellings on the plates, it's because Ivar's motto is "Keep Clam" :)
Tim's choice of entree - Alaskan halibut with a crab and hazelnut crust, served on a bed of wilted greens atop a mound of garlic mashed potatoes.

His verdict...yummmm! Perfect!
