Woodland Park Zoo
February 9, 2011
Brrr, it was cold today - below freezing when I set out for my weekly Zoo Walk. I believe I saw the fewest number of animals ever, and I don't blame them a bit. Even some of the fur-clad beasts chose to stay inside. Here are a few who popped out to say hello.

Whooooo's still asleep? Why it's the Barred Owl. Or maybe he's frozen to the branch.

The otters are usually playing at this time. This one was curled up in a tiny patch of sunshine.

'I'm not climbing those rocks! They're probably covered in ice!'.

Sebastian the wolf may be checking to see whether his harem is following. Besides his regular partner Jade, he's going to be well-outnumbered by four new females soon. Eek!

'I'm in the mood for...song!' 'Well I'm not. My teeth are chattering!'

'I'll sing in the sunshine - la la la.'

Mr and Mrs Lion pose for their annual Valentine portrait.

'Hey, did you know that tongue rolling is partly a genetic trait in humans? Huh? Huh?

A Nicobar Pigeon is actually sitting right under a heat lamp.

It was so nice to see the Green Heron again, this time up in a tree.

One of the Wallabys or Wallaroos has a baby in its pouch. For a couple of weeks I've been thinking it is this one. Last week she was lying inside and I watched the pouch twitch and move. Time will tell.
