We took advantage of a sunny morning to pay a visit to the Cougar Mountain Zoo, across Lake Washington on Cougar Mountain. It's a small Zoo, well-maintained, a great place for kids who like to feed animals. For photographic purposes, it's not so good, as many of the animals are still behind multiple layers of bars. Still, it was lovely to see them.

Cougar
A cougar was happily giving himself a bath in the sunshine.

Cougar
Suddenly he spotted us, and sat bolt upright, staring and staring.

Bengal Tiger
Bengal tigers were new since our last visit.

Bengal Tiger
It's a subspecies of tiger with naturally-occuring color variations.

Bengal Tigers
I think I know which one is the playful tiger.

Crowned Crane
These were advertised as the 'World's Most Beautiful Crane'.

Crowned Crane
Their head-dresses looked like dandelion fluff.

Alpaca
Is this a face only a mother could love? ;-)

Macaw
It was very cold in the Macaw area. The birds were shivering on their perches.

Macaw
This one cracked me up, with his 'Hi there!' and 'Bye, now!' said in a sexy voice.

Macaw
II think this one would rather have been back inside his warm house.

Macaws
These two were funny to watch.

There were many birds, three species of Lemurs basking in the sun (behind layers of bars and wire netting), a Swamp Wallaby, the 'largest Zoo herd of Siberian Reindeer in the Country', and Emus. The grounds were adorned with many sculptures. Here are just a few.
