"Fisherman's
Terminal, across from Ballard on Salmon Bay, is a fun place
to eat and shop while watching boats pull into the docks. Built
in 1911, the terminal is home to the Alaskan fishing fleet."
"Allll
righty then," thought Sharon and I. "Let's continue our
quest to check out all the fish and chips in Seattle." It was
miserable-looking when we set out on the Ides Of March - cold with
a leaden gray sky. |
|
Two popular
restaurants there are the slightly more formal "Chinook's"
and the fish-and chips place "Little Chinook's". We
opted for the latter - the fish and chips were fabulous!
And by the
time we were finished, out came the sun!

|
Currently
undergoing renovations, the Terminal is an excellent place to
spend time in the sunshine, watching the boats.

Here's a memorial
(?) currently being erected.
I didn't find the bronze and stone Seattle
Fishermen's Memorial, dedicated to more than 500 local commercial
fishermen and women who have lost their lives since the turn of
the century. |

After lunch
Sharon and I decided to visit the Ballard Locks, to see if the
Great Blue Herons had returned yet.
We climbed
down the steps and as we peered over the railing, the first thing
we saw was this fellow.
|
|
Oh gosh, did
I ever wish I had brought my big camera today! The "heron tree"
was alive with them - Sharon and I counted at least ten in the tree
at once. |
|
There seemed
to be a constant stream of them flying in.
It was an
awesome sight indeed!

|
A number of
bushes and flowers were beginning to bloom. We enjoyed smelling
them all :)
"Twas
another fun lunch with Sharon.
