'Twas a lovely
day so Tim and I set out for a short Sunday Drive.
We headed
south through the city where we drove past the International District.
I took a picture of a few of the dragons in the Dragon
Pole Project.

|
"The
historic area isnt visible due to the height of surrounding
buildings, I-5, and new development. In order to make this great
neighborhood more visible, the Dragon sculptures are placed along
the perimeter of the boundaries."
|
|
"The
design calls for each of the 11 dragons to be custom made to fit
Feng Shui recommendations, the size of poles, and cultural standards.
The sculptures are anywhere from twelve to twenty feet in length,
and spiraling up, around, and down! "
|
|
"The
three-color schemes are Jade, Gold, and
Fire. The dragons are hand sculpted and detailed, producing
a project that required extensive attention and has produced unmatchable
results." |
|
The dragons
added a wonderful colorful touch to an already colorful area, especially
on this sunny day. |

For old time's
sake I took a picture of the Immigration Building. I spent many
long hours inside this edifice during my first couple of years here. |
|
Meandering
further south, we decided to pay a visit to the Kubota
Garden, a Japanese-American garden in South Seattle.
It was completed
in 1930, thanks to the patronage of Fujitaro Kubota, a Japanese
immigrant.
