I watched
the baby gorilla for a while. She was either eating.
Or sleeping.
(And I didn't fall down this time, woohoo!)
These two in
Gorilla Troop 2 looked as if they were having a good old chat.
The recently elusive jaguar
was asleep in his sunny window.
A couple of
Red-ruffed Lemurs had braved the cold to look for lunch.
I glimpsed the
rare Sun Bear too! He too was foraging for food. Look at those claws!
A hippo slowly
plodded across the sand, searching for a meal.
The Pygmy Marmoset
grins as he finds something to eat in his hanging gourd.
The Lion King
roared atop his hill. I learned we won't be seeing him or Mama Lion
for much longer. The new pair are nearly ready for the public, having
been kept at the Zoo offsite for many months.
I asked again what would happen to these two dear veterans and was
told that they would be offered to other Zoos for display purposes.
I felt kinda sad to hear that. They have been fixtures at the Zoo,
and they're pretty old. It would be nice if they could just live
here in retirement.
I also learned that these two have never bred because their lineage
is uncertain. It is possible that the new young lion and lioness
will be bred.
