Argggh! It was the first non-rainy Saturday for ages, and Rosie the Car was out of commission. We decided to take old Wanda the Honda out for a Flatland Spin, and although we just meandered around here and there, it was such a tonic to be out and about again.

First stop was the tulip fields. The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival website had led us to believe that the fields were bursting with blooms. Hah! I don't think so! We managed to find a couple of colorful fields.

The yellow tulips really brightened up the gray day!

Wanda liked the red tulips best, because they matched her coat.

We cruised through the small town of La Conner. It's very quaint and pretty however we couldn't find a parking spot. Here's a picture of the outskirts.

Yes, it's good old Skunk Cabbage, but it's prettier than those I remember from Back East.

Next stop was Padilla Bay. It was alive with Great Blue Herons. This chap is stalking his lunch.

Here's another one, hiding in a bush right beside the road.

Near the refinery, we spotted a couple of Bald Eagles who looked as if they were having a grand old chat.

Good heavens. We even had to stop and let a Great Blue Heron cross the road!

While we waited for him to get to his destination, I took a picture of Mama Sheep and her Lamb.
