After our monthly lunch, Sharon and I decided to spend some
time at Green
Lake Park. It was a glorious day - sunny and warm. We
thought we'd try to walk all the way around the lake. We particularly
enjoyed the babies we saw along the way. |
|
As Sharon
and I began our 2.8 mile circuit of Green Lake Park, we heard
Red-winged Blackbirds calling loudly in the trees at the edge
of the lake. |
|
A little
further on, we were delighted to watch this little family
for a while. Mother never took her eyes off her babies, and
Dad stayed pretty close too. |
|
The ducklings
looked so cuddly, and I was able to get surprisingly close
to them. |
|
I think
this is a domestic goose, and I thought its markings were
lovely. |
|
Not so
lovely - one of the dead fish we saw along the way. There
were a number of fishermen enjoying an afternoon in the sun,
hoping for a good catch [link]
Carp, however,
are being removed from the lake because of their harmful effects
on the lake and on the water quality. [link] |
|
I found
these three geese hysterical! They were like fussy little
old ladies, rushing hither and yon in tandem. |
|
I swear
this is the same goose who ran hissing at Tim a year or two
ago. I almost expected to hear "Aflac!" |
