I stole a few minutes today to run in and take a look at the Meerkats. The exhibit opened last Saturday. I was thrilled to have a good look at them. The pictures are taken through thick glass on a very sunny day.

'Meerkats are the most social of all the mongooses, and family groups live together in a pack or colony, which can contain up to 30 individuals.' [link] I counted 8 in the group I watched today.

They seemed to like to cuddle up together.

A pair of them left the group to start their own, on the rocky slope.

Soon there were five!

These two were fascinated by the camera flashes.

I called this a Cuddle Puddle.

Here was the sentry, keeping watch for the rest of the gang.

I'm sure they appreciate it.

I look forward to my next visit.
