We took a drive along Highway Two towards Stevens Pass. Our destination was Deception Falls. Alas, the trails were closed to the public because of flood damage.

Deception Falls, however, was blasting down over the rocks. We've never seen it like this, nor heard it thundering down over the rocks as loudly.

The crashing of the water on the rocks was awesome!

I liked this picture of Tim at work.

At the top of the falls were bushes with pretty little pink flowers. As yet, I have been unable to identify them.

We decided to take a ride along Foss River Road, since it was a new road to us. I was amazed to see carpets of trilliums everywhere.

Most were white, but some were purplish.

As we climbed to a higher elevation, you can see what we ran into! We had hoped to get to the top of Maloney Peak, but that trip will have to wait until summer, as the snow got deeper and more slippery and we decided to turn around.

There were some great views from the road.

Here's a closeup of one of the peaks we saw.

Next we went along Beckler River Road. The sides of the road were covered with lovely little blue forget-me-not flowers and bright yellow dandelions.

Here's Tim at our lunch spot, beside one of the many waterfalls we saw today.

Another common roadside flower was the Wild Bleeding Heart.

And eeek, this looked like an Alien Plant, plunked down near a bed of ferns. My hero Tim identified it as a Horsetail.

On our way home, we took a short break beside the North Fork of the Skykomish River. This gave us a very brief peek at Mount Index which was shrouded in clouds.
