On a glorious May day we headed for Westport and the Pacific Ocean. I love Westport. It's a small, unpretentious city on the shores of Grays Harbor. Tim lived there when he first came to Washington. As much as I love mountains, I share an equal love with the ocean, and it's always a great destination.

Our first stop was Westport Harbor. We walked along the docks and across the bridge

From the dock at the other end of the bridge we could see the harbor and the bay..

What a surprise! We saw hundreds and hundreds of Brown Pelicans today!

I loved watching them swoop along, almost touching the surface of the water..

We've never seen so many before. It must be an early migration from Mexico.

I nearly jumped off the bridge in excitement when I saw a Sea Lion down below..

One? There were two! I loved watching them frolic, and steal from the fishermen's baskets.

This one was trying to get a turkey leg which was being used as crab bait.
