WOODLAND PARK ZOO & ROSE GARDEN

MaY 24, 2010
I walked along to the Zoo's Rose Garden this morning to see how the roses were doing. I continued my walk through the Zoo as I was dying to try out a new lens Tim had given me. It was not the most optimal try-out for several reasons. The lighting was tricky and probably required the use of a tripod (which I'd left at home). The Zoo was overrun with End-Of-Year school trips. Much of the groundskeeping is done on Mondays, therefore some animals are confined to their quarters. Still, I enjoyed it, as always.

ROSE GARDEN

Hmmm. Where's the color? Despite the scarcity of blooms the reflecting pool looked very pretty.

So did the fountain and the gazebo. There were flowers, but very few roses in sight.

What was this? 'Exciting Experiment'? We shall see.

Some of the roses which were trying to blossom looked a little sad.

Many were shrivelled, with spotted leaves.

This one was crawling with insects.
I'll go back in a few weeks and see how the experiment's faring.

ZOO

It's your lucky day, lady! I'm showing off my necklace. See?

*sniff, sniff* Has someone here been eating broccoli? Or beans?
