Baker Lake Road
May 26, 2012

On a pretty Saturday we took Highway 9 north to visit Baker Lake Road. It's so much nicer than the Freeway.

Here's Snohomish Airport/Harvey Field with its backdrop of White Horse Mountain. It's the place to go sky-diving and Hot Air Balloon riding.

Tim and I like this route much more than battling the I-5 traffic.

Woohoo - we're getting closer! There's Mount Shuksan saying 'Hi!'.

And here she is (my favorite mountain), seen across part of Baker Lake.

Not far to the left is the majestic Mount Baker.

We take each other's pictures on the smaller diversion dam.

'Do I like it here? You bet I do!'

After a while we decide to drive as far up the nearby mountain as we can, hoping to reach the magnificent Anderson-Watson Lookout. The dam we were standing on bisects the water in the middle of this photo.

Loads of tiny Wood Violets brighten the trail sides.

There are a number of waterfalls too - Tim's favorites.

Dang it - snow. We know better than to try to drive through, even though we have a tall SUV with 4-wheel drive. No big look-out for us today. Down we go.

Here's our lunch view, from a small turnout beside the downward track.

On the way home we stop at the Burpee Hill lookout. Sauk Mountain is on the left.

Just to the right of the previous picture, far off in the distance we catch a glimpse of the elusive Glacier Mountain, about 43 miles away. It was a nice ending to our trip.
