We took a short tour of the Japanese Garden located at the Washington Arboretum today. What a pretty place it is! Today was Children's Day, so there were crowds and activities everywhere. Despite this, we got a feel for the serenity and peace of this beautiful place.

One of the things I particularly enjoyed was the Koi Pond. The Koi were all colors and sizes. Although many of the lovely flowers were already past their prime, there was still a lot of color from the wild irises, the pretty water lilies, the wisteria trees and the last of the rhododendrons.

Colorful flags greeted us at the entrance to the gardens.

A gently-arched stone bridge gave us a pretty view.

Alongside the stream were many lovely flowers.

I think the trees are Ginko Bilobas.

Soft music was playing in the background, adding to the ambience.

Here is the wonderful Koi pond.

Groups of Koi headed for the bridge when they heard people approaching.

I was fascinated by the colors.

There were many shapes and sizes.
