I spent a few hours at the Zoo today, trying to choose some of the less crowded areas (which was a bit futile). It was good to see the animals again. I also enjoyed my first visit of the year to the Butterfly Exhibit.

The porcupine has been rather elusive lately. There's a new fallen tree in his enclosure with lots of good hiding spots for him.

Both of the Grizzly Bears were very active this morning. This guy paced back and forth, back and forth in the grassy area.

His partner seemed to prefer wading in the stream.

"What choo lookin' at, lady?" the tiger seemed to say.

So did the lion.

Awww, okay - you can take my picture, I guess.

Geeez, where did all these kids come from?

Red-flanked duikers are tiny antelopes. This is a father with his year-old son. A mother and daughter are in a separate compound in the Conservation Area.

A tiny cowbird was dwarfed by the Zebra.

Is the Giraffe trying to decide whether bending down to eat something is worth the effort?

Two hippos have a watery chat.

Melati huddles inside the building, waiting for lunchtime.

Her pal Chinta enjoys the hammock out in the fresh air.

I'll make my cute face, just for you.
