After the last hiking ordeal, we timidly ventured out to Franklin Falls, near Snoqualmie Pass this week. According to the literature we found, it was an "easy" two mile round trip with a "gentle" 250 foot elevation gain. For once the literature was correct, and even though the weather was far from perfect, the hike was great!

Here we are setting out. The trail is smooth and well-marked.
Much of the trail takes us alongside of Denny Creek which was in full flow.
Although a few of the streamlets had stepping stones, most had bridges.
We saw a lot of trilliums today - they remind me of Ontario (Canada).
Bunchberry plants were blooming as well.
Before we started climbing, we were able to walk out on the flat rocks beside the creek. The water really whooshed past us at great speed.
Here's Tim crossing one of the many wooden bridges.
Ooooh, a chance for me to do some tree-hugging. There were many massive old growth trees in this area. They were gigantic. This is a red cedar.
As always in the cool, damp woods there were lots of fungi.
Franklin Falls was thundering into its basin, dropping about 70 feet. The rocky path leading down to the falls was extremely treacherous so we didn't venture too far down it. We did, however, watch little kids skip and hop their way down it to the bottom. Oh to be young again and have no fear. :)
