Woodland Park Zoo
July 25, 2007

On a whim I headed to the Zoo on Wednesday. Not only was it very crowded, but I was cornered by a very chatty woman so I skulked around the quieter areas for a while.

I spent quite a bit of time with the Bald Eagles, as it's fairly unusual to see them both sitting on the same branch.

The one on the left was constantly on the move, twisting and preening and looking around. The one on the right stood guard.

One of the bears was playing in the water as I arrived. He was so funny, standing right against the glass. All the little kids were squealing and laughing as he showed off.

In a little while he got out, and waddled around the grass for a while, looking very, very pleased with himself.

The color of the Ruddy Duck's beak astounded me. The little information sign told me that this was the Adult Male Breeding Plumage.

I watched in glee as a little female made a spectacle of herself, trying to catch his attention. She lurched around in circles making funny little noises.
