AUGUST 17th, 2013
A baby giraffe was born at the Zoo on August 6th, just after 7 p.m. By the first weekend he had grown to 6 feet tall! So far he spends much of his time indoors or out in a fenced corral. There's a ( giraffecam ) too. I'm not a fan of trying to photograph through chain link fences but who could pass up an opportunity to see the little guy in person today?

I also saw the Lemurs lunching which was great. I haven't had a good look at them for ages. And I spent some time with the jaguars, lion cubs, snow leopards and sloth bears. What a nice day it turned out to be.

First glimpse of the new baby, less than 2 weeks old.

Whoaaaa, are all those people looking at li'l ol' me?

Hiya Ma! Hiya Auntie - whatcha doin'?

I see a snack. I'm lucky I have a long neck (but I hope I never get tonsillitis!).

I'm stretching really high to give Mom a kiss. *smooch*

Yikes, what's up with my floppy ear?

Hey, I smell LUNCH! Woo hoo!

I think I'll hide behind these leaves and pounce when it's ready. Otherwise old Greedyguts will get it all.

I see it! I see it! I'm taking a shortcut. Oh boy, these sticks aren't too sturdy!
