Heather Meadows Revisited

September 6 , 2008
When we last visited the lovely Heather Meadows (July 27), it was still buried in snow. Today, the snow was nearly all gone. There were low clouds and mist for a good part of the day. We didn't mind. We were able to have a good hike, up around the 4500 foot elevation mark. As always, it was terrific.

Here we are on the ridge. Mount Baker is off to the left, under the clouds.

Looking towards Mount Baker from a different angle. It's still invisible.

A raven sang to us from the top of a nearby tree for a while. (Well, he croaked, really.)

A closeup of some heather.

I haven't figured out what this one is yet, but it made a bright spot in the greenery.

Many of the leaves were laden with dew and big raindrops. They looked like diamonds..

I saw this little guy vanish and waited patiently for him to stick out his head again.

Lunchtime! Not so much of a view, but still, a great place to dine
