What a different place the Zoo is after Labor Day. The crowds have vanished (much to the regret of the Zoo folks, probably) and one can enjoy a leisurely stroll. Even the animals seem to sense a more laid-back atmosphere.

This year we seem to be having summer in September. The glare is not good for photography but I'm not complaining. The warmth and blue skies are lovely. Here are just a few pictures from today's trip.

Hey lady! Wanna see me do some tricks? I can hang upside down, sort of.

Did you see me flip? Were you looking? Wasn't I great?
Oh my goodness, the year-old joey was outside with her Dad. I haven't seen her since she was still in Mum's pouch last Spring. I was amazed at how big she is.
Dad followed her everywhere. I was sad to learn from a Docent that her Mum, Fergie, went to the Great Outback In The Sky last week. Fergie had been ill for a long, long time and the joey eventually had to be taken from Fergie's pouch and hand-raised so she's just getting used to the rest of the gang. Dad (Harry) doesn't realize he is her father.

Please sir, may I have some more? It's all gone, boohoo.

Hey babe - what's that sound?

Shhhh. It's the sound of silence. Ain't it cool?

Even a little Red Panda stuck his head out, probably to see if the coast was clear.

You call that lunch? I call it a tennis ball, an old potato and some mush.

Excuse me, waiter. You forgot to give me my napkin.

Oooooh, ow, ow, ow, ow, blech, phooey, ptui!

Sometimes I have no idea at all what they are feeding me.
