Bliss. No crowds. Eh, so what if it was cool and damp. I loved it.

A couple of Speckled Mousebirds enjoy the view from the treetops near the African Savannah.

The area also houses several Blue-bellied Rollers. They look very top-heavy.

All the Weaverbirds have now dismantled their hanging pear-shaped nests and won't be building more until next March.

The male weaves a nest in the same way that a person makes a basket. Then he hangs upside down, flaps his wings wildly and sings loudly in order to attract a mate.

A pair of Violaceous Turacos observe the world. Try saying their name quickly 3 times!

Over in the North American compound the bald eagles appear to be restless. One flaps his wings madly.

The other accompanies him with a loud squawk.

Next door, a pair of River Otters enjoy a swim.

And a Brown Bear quenches his thirst in the pond. Or is he scoping out lunch? Frightened little fish swim crazily around in the water.

His buddy is ready for a nap!

Hmmm - eat or sleep, eat or sleep? What's a guy to do?
