I was so pleased to learn that two of the baby snow leopards born on May 2nd at the Woodland Park Zoo were now on public display. Two girls and a boy were all born with congenital defects and the male's were severe so sadly, he didn't make it.

The girls looked good today, exploring and enjoying a bit of rough-and-tumble despite their eye and eyelid defects, known as multiple ocular coloboma. Each is blind in the right eye.

Picture-taking conditions were very challenging, including looking straight into brilliant sunshine and dark shadows through a thick, dirty glass window. The girls stayed far away, up on a hill.

Mom Helen and the girls, Shanti and Asha spent a lot of time on a rock behind some bushes, far away.

Finally, one of the girls decided to do a little exploring.

She finds a little sunny spot and waits for her sister.

How cute am I?

And along comes Sis.

Together they checked out a lot of nooks and crannies.

To tell which is which, the keepers look at the spot at the end of the tail.
This one has a black spot.

The other one's spot is white.

Awwwwww. Friends forever.

Ma! Ma! Are you asleep?

I think she's asleep. She's not answering.

Ma! Ma! We're hungry! When is dinnertime?

Oh phooey! Still no answer.

Well, if ya can't beat 'em, join 'em.
