The Alpine Lakes Wilderness

October 29, 2011
On a gray, misty Saturday morning we headed North to the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. We weren't expecting too much. It is, after all, the end of October
. I must say we were pleasantly surprised at the color. The lighting once again was a challenge, as was taking pictures on the go. Still, it was good to be out.

There were the most amazing golden yellow trees along Highway 2.

It was a wee bit eerie driving along through the mist.

We headed for the hills at Money Creek Road. The creeks were running quickly today.

Here and there the hills were bisected by long waterfalls.

Water, water everywhere...Tim loves waterfalls.

When we reached Lake Elizabeth we could barely see the huge meadows.

Tim is checking out the road. Perhaps it's time to go the other way.

Little Lake Elizabeth glowed in the mist.
