Woodland Park Zoo

December 5 , 2009
It barely got above freezing today but it was beautifully sunny. Once the layer of frost melted I slid along to the Zoo.

There were few people and even fewer animals out. I felt those I saw deserved to get their pictures online.

I know you'd like me sitting still.
And posing with great ease.
I tell ya lady, if I do,
To this branch I'll freeze!

If you find the air is cold,
Then you really oughtta
Try this trick. Just stick your head
Underneath warm water.

My pals are out there, trying to play.
But I think this is sweeter.
I'm cosy sitting in the warmth,
For o'er my head's the heater!

I just came up to say hello.
I saw your silhouette.
And now, good-bye. I'm diving down
Where it is warm and wet.

We cannot go outside. We have
Such spindly legs and feet.
And if we fall - disaster! So
They bribe us with a treat.

It really doesn't bother us -
The sun, the rain, or shade.
A heated rock, a furry friend -
I'd say we've got it made!

I think they're deaf, those guys inside.
I'm knocking at the door!
Hey! Let me in! I'm freezing, man!
I guess I'll have to roar?

Who said it's cold? We love this clime.
Snow Leopard is our name.
Forget about the weather and,
Come out and play our game.

This is the life. What do we do?
We eat and sleep and play.
Through rain and sun and sometimes snow.
We stay outside all day.

And if sometimes we realize
That we're a little numb,
We snuggle up together.

It's so nice to have a chum.
