On an extremely blustery December day, Wanda the Honda and I set out, determined to take advantage of the lack of precipitation. Hah, this was the one time I have not lugged along my larger camera, and of course there were photo ops galore. Here are some taken with my Purse Camera. :)

My first stop was Sharon's house where I met Tana, their latest foster dog. She has truly flourished under their care, and she's a lovely, affectionate dog.

I also snapped some of Sharon's Nutcracker Dolls. I love these guys!

We drove to Fremont, to the 35th Street Bistro for lunch. Oh my, what a meal we had! It was decadently awesome. Sharon ate pasta with clams which looked so pretty and I dined upon Ling Cod, lightly breaded and sauteed with a light cream and herb sauce, pommes frites and green salad with warm apple slices. It too tasted as wonderful as it looked. I did not think to take pictures because I am a glutton, a gourmand, whatever. *hangs head*

After lunch we meandered around Fremont, taking a look inside Frank and Dunya™, an art gallery/shop laden with jewelry, handicrafts and art by local artisans. Oh my, the displays were wonderful and whimsical. We enjoyed looking but it was a bit too pricey for me.

I was quite taken with the little Ballerina mice. These were in a back room, which was the only place that I had the nerve to take pictures.

They looked so cute on their perches.

I laughed out loud at the table full of grotesque toothbrush holders.

And I adored the mushroom/toadstool lamps!

The wall held an eclectic collection of clocks.

I think we both enjoyed looking around the shop.

Nearby, we walked past a pretty wrought iron fence with a plant motif.

It was next to this eye-catching apartment building.

Continuing on our way, we walked beneath the Fremont Rocket.

Our next stop was Simply Desserts where we indulged in a slice of Chocolate Caramel cake. Words cannot describe this cake. It was simply outstanding.

On our way back to the car we passed the Statue of Lenin, looking rather, umm, fed up with its garlands of seasonal lights. The pole on its head is the side view of a neon star - rather undignified, don't you think?

And last but not least, I snapped a picture of the Freemont Troll as we headed for home. What a fun day, and a lovely break.
