As we drove
south and east, we passed through several areas which showed the
results of the "freezing fog" mentioned by the weatherman.
Sunshine made the frosted trees twinkle like diamonds. |
|
We took a slight
detour to Gray's Harbor Wildlife Refuge which proved to be a bit
of a bust. There were a gazillion Canada Geese, and one lonely Great
Blue Heron. The very short road dead-ended at a small air strip
which advertised itself as being the home of the Flying Fatboy.
He wasn't around either. |
|
There
were some lovely little ponds near the road as we headed towards
Ocean Shores. This one was covered with a very thin sheet of ice. |
|
Our
lunch spot today was Damon Park. On one side of the point, several
sailboarders attempted to get themselves airborne. It was very windy
and cold here - I needed my hat, scarf and mittens!. |
|
On
the other side of the point, waves smashed into the shore with great
vigor. I could see great spumes of spray far off in the distance,
and it was fun watching the rollers head towards shore. |
|
Wherever
we looked it was picturesque. and the sound was amazing. I could
have watched all day, but we decided to explore some more. |
|
One
last look at the scenic vista and off we went, meandering down the
shore road in ermmm Ocean Shores. |
