Valentine Treat day this year was very sunny and very cold. I noted on the information board that two groups of animals would get their treats at the same time, every half an hour. Oh no! How would I choose?

The penguins weren't too happy with their next-to-last spot on the list, especially since they were up extra early today. Now I had to decide about where to go for the first session. Jaguars or Lion Cubs? Oh dear. What to do? I went to the closest.

The Jaguars

According to a guide, the jaguars had to be fed one at a time for safety reasons, shall we say. So there would be no food treats. Instead, they were offered perfumed paper flowers. Don't laugh (like I did). Jaguars love scent, and the keepers hoped they'd enjoy their Valentine Treat.

The first two out of the den discovered flowers and a card for Mom.

Oooopsie - there goes the card. Sowwy, Mom!

Hey, did you guys smell this one? I think it's Chanel Number Five!

The red one is Obsession - my very favorite! *swoon*

Hey, wanna trade? Can I smell the purple one? I bet it's J'Adore.

Even the leaves smell yummy! I'm gonna eat this one.

After spending a frustrating 15 minutes dealing with the glaring sun, a smudgy window, some awful reflections and a huge crowd, I decided to head over to the lion area and catch the end of that show.

The Lion Cubs and Mom

Oh hi! I bet you'll never guess what we got for treats this morning.

Heart-shaped bloodsicles. (The keeper called them that.) *shiver*

Mine's pretty tasty. How's yours? Gr-r-r-r-r-eat!!!

I know they mean well but good grief - who gives out icy treats in icy weather?
I kinda wish it was a Hot Toddy.
Yesssss - we second the motion!
