A small hawk warily watched my
progress for a while. He seemed pretty nervous. |

There were a large
number of Buffleheads on the far side of the pond. This one ventured close
enough for me to snap his picture. He looked so crisp and clean. |

I was pleased to
see the pretty little Pied-billed Grebe was back. |

A gaggle of American Wigeons
hung around the the west end of the pond, searching for food in the
nearby grassy areas. Their funny whistling noises made me smile. [sound

There were still some large patches
of ice floating on the pond, as this Mallard learned! |
