Today the Zoo celebrated the opening of a new temporary exhibit for Liz and Missy, two 14 year old female cheetahs from Wildlife Safari in Oregon. Providing a temporary home for 'the girls' here has created additional space for the breeding program at the Safari. [link]

Also notable today was the sight of the 'baby' giraffe exploring the wide open Savannah. It was fun watching him investigate.

Hi! Are you here to see the cheetahs?

Right this way - they're in the next exhibit. Enjoy!

According to the information, this is Missy - she has a vertical stripe between her eyes.

Liz has lines and dots above her eyes.

Missy was born in the Netherlands and likes to nap.

Liz is from South Africa. Her coloring is a bit lighter.

Mama jaguar sends welcome wishes to them.

She's sorry she can't visit, but that's the way things are.

Mama lion is still trying to catch up in sleep after those four cubs. Word has it that her new partner who is on site is a gorgeous hunk of lion named [Xerxes]. They are currently being slowly introduced in a controlled setting and are getting along well so far.

'Yoo hoo - welcome Liz and Missy!' sings a young snow leopard.

Pretty soon the two young snow leopards will leave for a new home.
