We've been having a heat wave for several days and there is no end in sight. I wondered what the animals at the Zoo thought of it.

'Just leave me alone in the shade and I'll be fine.' said one of the Cheetahs.

A Snow Leopard was only interested in napping under a tree.

'Heat? It makes me CRAZY!' mumbled a Macaque monkey.

Xerxes was annoyed. 'It makes my mane go all limp and droopy! Sheesh!'

'Two words!' said the Patas monkey. 'Easy. Rider.'

The Red-ruffed Lemur muttered 'Hate it!'

'Heat makes me feel like dancing...' sang a Zebra as he cantered along.

'Never mind the heat wave. I have something important to tell you.' said the baby giraffe.
'See this guy behind me? He's my new friend. He is 2 years old.
He comes from Chicago and his name is Dave. I'm so happy!'

The hippos are happy. And cool.

'I can't find a cool spot anywhere!' wails Uzumma.

"Hey - are you going to stay down there in the water all day?'

'Nope - I'm going to jump up and give you a smooch!'
