Tim dropped me off at the Zoo on Valentine's Day. I wondered if the lion cubs would be out as the temperature was reasonably mild despite the gray skies.

I went to the Lions' Den first and luck was with me as they were about to get their Valentine treats. The head keeper was placing 'Bloodsicles' around for Mom and the cubs to find. Dad was resting his sore foot indoors for a few days so I didn't see him.

The cubs' names are Tandie, Gandia and Mandla. I don't always know which is which.

I spent 3/4 of an hour there and took so many pictures that I used up all of my memory card! My other card was back at home, alas, so that was the end of my picture taking for the day. Here are 24 of the bazillion pictures I took.

Mandla (shaved mark on left shoulder) is the first to race to the treat.

Mother Adia encourages the other two to go for a taste.

Don't rush - it's very cold!

Okay, now it's your turn, little one.

See? There's nothing to be afraid of.

Hey Ma! Who are all these funny-looking animals on the other side of this glass?

Nevermind. I am a big brave hunter. Yes I am!

So am I! Wait for me!

Hey Ma! How about a ride? Huh? Huh?

She always says she's too tired. Sighhhhhhh. She used to carry all three of us around.

I like it out here. There are more things to look at and taste.

They don't always taste good. Yuck! This thing is sharp!
