April 18, 2015
Saturday dawned sunny and warm for a change. We decided to head north. Maybe there would be some wildflowers to see, particularly Trilliums. We both wanted to stretch our legs and give our cameras a workout.

We decided to start with a short hike along the Old Sauk Trail near Darrington, then we'd drive along the Mountain Loop Highway and visit Big Four near the Ice Caves.

As we drove north on the I-5, a pair of parasailers swooped across the highway.

Imagine living here, in the shadow of the majestic Whitehorse Mountain.

I took a few closeups of the peaks.

At this time of year there are a bazillion shades of green in the Pacific Northwest.

We began our trip along the Old Sauk Trail. Oooooh, there were lots of fungi!

The ferns were rolling out their delicate leaves.

They look like alien beings.

Woohoo, Tim spots the first Trillium.

I love this wildflower - the provincial flower of Ontario, Canada, my former home. Washington's Trilliums are a different subspecies however they look quite similar to Ontario's Trilliums.

As they age, many of the Trilliums turn pink.

As well as growing in the woods, they nodded at us from the roadsides.
