March 1st
was a glorious day so we headed north to check out some of the
places Tim had found on the topo maps this week. Baker Lake
Road is always a great spot for a ride, and our first stop was
Baker Lake Dam. From there, we headed up Mount Watson. We had
climbed about five and a half miles when a ranger stopped us
and told us that the going was too treacherous right now, so
down we came. (I confess to heaving a sigh of relief).
Rainbow Falls Road was our next adventure, and once again we
had to turn around in snow almost a foot deep. We were very
very pleased with the way Rosie performed in the snow - she's
a star! We bumped our way down another trail, and followed Baker
Lake Road to the end. We'll definitely return to these areas
in the summer - the ranger assured us that if/when you can get
to the top, the views are stunning.
