BALLARD LOCKS

A ten minute drive from our house, Ballard Locks provide the way for ships and boats to get from Shilshole Bay in Puget Sound to Lake Washington. You can read about them HERE.

A lovely camellia
greeted us.

Nearby was a gorgeous star magnolia tree.

Here's the view looking west towards Shilshole Bay.

This boat is sailing east, towards Lake Union.

The boats are ready, and the lock doors close behind them.

As the water rises, so do the boats :)

A coast guard boat, complete with artillery was
just ahead of the "Giddy-Up".
