Sunday,
Decmber 23 proved to be a welcome break in the rainy, cloudy, dull,
wet and oppressive weather here in western Washington, so Tim and I
headed out for a ride to the mountains. Our main objective was just
to get out and about, but we saw some awesome scenery, some snow, some
wildlife and even a few eagles.
As we drove
northwards, I took this picture of Whitehorse mountain from the moving
car. It sparkled in the sunshine.
There's
a very pretty spot, near Marysville where the views are always spectacular,
providing the weather co-operates.
Sauk Mountain
is clearly visible as we travelled eastwards on Route 20, heading for
Rockport.
Rockport
is famous for its reputation as a gathering spot for Bald Eagles during
the months of December, January and February. We figure we were a bit
early this year, as we only saw three of them. This is the least blurry
photo I took - they were very high in the sky and very fast!
Salmon are what attracts the eagles.
Here is one swimming in a nearby creek.
