This
morning we spotted an article
telling of more Guerilla Art in Seattle. (Guerilla Art
is designed to surprise, shock or amuse and is [in my
opinion] a form of graffiti.) Heh, this was right down
our alley, so we hopped in the car and headed to
Magnuson Park on Lake Washington. Magnuson Park is
no stranger to Guerilla Art, having been the site of the
Great
Monolith Mystery of 2001.
Here's what we found when we arrived ~
Nine life-size
soldiers were standing at attention up on top of Kite Hill.
One side of the "leader" is painted silver.
The other is a collage of photos and paintings.
His top half depicts bombers
The lower part appears to be a crumbling building with
stricken-looking faces behind the "windows".
The faces of the other eight soldiers are symbolically composed
of mirrors.
Tim had a good look at the troops.
And so did I. The KOMO article said that the soldiers would
remain there until
kite season, but who knows? That was the plan with the monolith
in 2001,
but it was kidnapped and reappeared at Green Lake. We shall
see.
For good measure, here's the glorious Mount Rainier, seen on the
way home.
