Although it was cloudy, we have learned not to let a few clouds deter us, for the weather can change in the blink of an eye. We drove north to Bellingham, and then eastward on Rte 542. We'd looked forward a lot to revisiting Picture Lake, north of Mount Shuksan, by reputation, one of the most photographed lakes in North America. It was nice to see it surrounded by greenery this time. I was able to try out the zoom on my new camera and took this and this picture of Mount Shuksan - I was pleased with the results. A little further along the road, we were treated to a splendid view of Table Rock. We had intended to hike out to Table Rock today, but the snow was too deep for us. The
road wound its way up and
around ending at a lookout called Artist's Point - a very popular spot
with hikers, sightseers, snowboarders and skiiers as well as artists.
Here is the scenery
looking to the south east. Sadly, clouds obscured all of Mount Baker,
and most of Mount Shuksan at this level, but we managed to see
Mt. Shuksan poking through at one point. Although the road was
clear, there was still a lot of snow
at the top. Tim enjoyed
it a lot. And so did I - it was a lovely day. |
