Tim had a holiday today, so we decided to be brave and take a hike to Bridal Veil Falls near Mount Index. The literature described it as "an easy hike of 1.6 miles" and we were pretty sure we were capable of that distance, despite not being *ahem* in the best physical shape. You can read about Bridal Veil Falls here, and see why it sounded attractive.

Before we began, we looked at the map at the Trailhead, and we felt confident we could do this. Click the button to see a closeup of the map.

Here's the beginning of the trail, closed to keep out vehicles. If we could have, I am sure we would have driven part of the way!
The woods were so green and lush. Here, Tim admires a Big Leaf Maple tree.
Ferns, wildflowers and plants of all kinds grew in abundance here.
Trees and stumps were covered with layers of moss
The path narrowed and became quite steep.
Every so often, there would be a clearing with a marvellous view.
Near the remains (one log!) of an old cabin, beneath a steep outcropping of rock, Tim found something to photograph.
Tim found this link on the Web which explains what happened to them.
