We've been having an uncommonly good spell of weather this summer, so on July 20, 2002 we decided to see if the road from Heather Meadows to Artist Point was passable. We were both enthused because it seemed like a perfect day to see the elusive Mount Baker which promised to be highly visible from Artist Point. We've never had a really good look at it on any of our other trips.

We spent nearly 2 1/2 hours, crawling northward in this giant traffic jam - UGH!

Just for Brian and Beth - a sign on the back of a trailer.

Tim was quite entranced with the propeller that rotated on the back of this truck.
He wants one!

The road to Bellingham, north of Mount Vernon is really beautiful.

Here is beautiful Mount Shuksan, across Highwood Lake

Another view, taken from a lower angle.

We could see the road up to Artist Point, but surprisingly it was closed.
