Tim
and I have always loved eagles, and here in Washington State
we have the opportunity to see many of them. A popular spot
at this time of year is the Skagit River. Bald Eagles congregate
here, feeding off the spawned-out salmon.
THE COOL:
Saturday, December 13th was a nasty day, weather-wise. December
is known for being a putrid month. We headed to the Skagit
anyway and were rewarded for our efforts. Altogether we
saw 22 eagles. Sadly, our pictures were pretty awful, partly
because of the weather conditions and partly because *cough
cough* I had decided to try out a few different camera
settings. Big mistake.

THE
HOT:
About 2 p.m. we decided to call it a day and headed home. Tim
decided we'd make a stop so I could see his new favorite store,
Double D Meats (thanks Tom!). Oh my heck, it was awesome! There
were rows and rows of shelves and shelves of hot sauces and
hot gourmet treats as far as the eye could see and of course
a spectacular meat counter as well. On top of the shelves and
counters were colorful displays of pottery, knick-knacks, clothing
- anything with a pepper theme.
I had a field day with my camera until in my excitement, *ahem*
a bottle with a black rabbit's foot on it jumped off the shelf
and smashed at my feet *innocent look*. While a nice
young man was cleaning up the mess, I asked him a question or
two. He told me there were over 12,000 kinds of hot sauces,
dips, dressings etc. in the store. It was amazing! Here are
some pics of just a few things. |
