MOUNT RAINIER
October 2nd was a glorious day here in the Pacific Northwest. We headed off to Mount Rainier because we figured everyone else would go to Mount St Helens, to watch for eruptions. Although the colors were past their peak at Mt. Rainier, the mountain is always spectacular.

MOUNT ST HELENS
Later, as we wound our way around the south perimeter, we found a route to Windy Ridge and Mount St Helens, so we took it (along with many other folks). The road was closed, 7 miles from the viewpoint but nevertheless we were able to have a good view of Mount St Helens. Also interesting was the fact that there was very clear evidence of the previous blast over 20 years ago. Apparently not as much restoration has been done in this area.
