We'd had a week of gray skies, drizzle and even rain here in Seattle, so Tim and I were determined to get out today, no matter what. The forecast didn't sound too grim, so off we went, north towards Bellingham. We meandered along Chuckanut Drive, had an abortive search for a heronry near Bellingham, got lost near Lake Whatcom and had a wonderful time.

Here are a few pictures.

Beside the highway, near Arlington was a field of decorated wooden cows.

We deduced that it was the Town Of Arlington's 100th birthday.

This must have been a centennial project for the town.

Many groups and businesses had contributed to the display.

Along Chuckanut Drive, we came upon an alpaca farm

And here's a llama who was quite curious.

Along the same road we saw lots of hawks, most of whom
flew as soon as they spotted my camera.
