Tim gave me a very thoughtful birthday gift recently - a year's pass to the Woodland Park Zoo. Today we took advantage of the lovely weather and strolled through the Zoo for a couple of hours.

Here are a couple of the large butterflies which adorn the North Gate. They were so pretty in the sunshine.
Tim took this photo of a curious penguin perhaps wondering if it's feeding time at the Zoo yet. Most of the penguins seemed to be taking siestas but a few ventured out in search of handouts from the crowd (which are forbidden).
The Sloth Bear and her babies were lying around in the bearpit. They were not very visible so here's a picture of the Queen of the Sloths instead.
A noble tiger basked in the sunshine, paying no attention whatsoever to his admirers.
One Simiang monkey was imitating "The Thinker". We had hoped to hear them call to each other but no luck today. These are the monkeys we can hear from our house, a mile away.

The orangutans were hiding as well, except for this one who was dining al fresco, and another nearby who was buried under four or five sacks. Only his paw was visible.
