A couple of miles past our lunch spot, the road was closed.

The rocky cliff faces, sheltered from the sun, had the most amazing icicles.

They were very beautiful, and in some places water was rushing beneath the ice.

A little further on, we admired the reflections in Ross Lake.

The sunshine highlighted the craggy peaks which surrounded us.

We drove through a couple of tunnels, cut through the rock..

And we drove past a rockslide area, currently under repair.
The inset shows a closeup of the metal bolts, put in to try to hold the rock in place.

Soon we were back in Marblemount, home of the Buffalo Run Inn, built in 1885.
Tim and I agreed that it had been a fabulous day!
