Here's a fellow sitting in a duck blind, all ready for hunting season.

Tim has a chuckle at him too.

After having walked about a mile and a half we reached a dead end. A bridge is planned for this area.

On the way back we heard many red-winged blackbirds. They stayed away from us.

Wheeee! Tim pointed out the first Skunk Cabbage of the season.

More pussy willows - they remind me a lot of my childhood.

We watched a Great Blue Heron dining on frogs for a while.

Eventually he had his fill and took off.

Up, up he went, very gracefully.

He flew to a field across the road so we said good-bye and headed back to Seattle. Although we saw a lot of holey trees, and heard from local birdwatchers that yes, the Pileated Woodpeckers were around, we didn't get lucky today. Fooey!

We'll try again. After all, there's another section of trails to explore.
