I think this is a type of lilac. I'd never seen a two-toned lilac flower before.


Irises are in bloom as well. 
 
  Some looked quite healthy despite the cold, wet weather.

 
I am often surprised at the variety of colors.


The white irises look so delicate.
 
 
Yet others appear quite hardy and tough.

 
Poppies are beginning to bloom too.
 
 
Some look a little worse for wear, but valiantly they wave their heads at me.

Many of the white dogwood trees have also suffered an overdose of rain.
 

The pink dogwood blossoms seem to have fared a bit better.
 

A lone alien tulip guards its little patch of sunshine.
Hooray for the flowers! They brighten any day.
